Cookie-based Tracking
Cookie- based Tracking is a technology which allows us to re-identify clients, who were exposed to a certain website or a specific advertising campaign, in multiple browser sessions. The Online offerings and campaigns to analyse are flagged with a little code snippet („tag“).Users are flagged with a „cookie“ when being exposed to a tag. A cookie is a small text file, which is saved on the machine of the client. If a cookie-flagged client is exposed to a tagged offering again, it can be clearly and anonymously identified. |
LEOtrace® Browser Add-on
The LEOtrace® Browser Add-on is an application which study participants download into their browser, allowing us to gather extensive reactive and non-reactive data. Areas of application range from reach measurement studies to remote usability tests and experimental studies, in which content in the browser is selectively manipulated. The regular setup is comprised of a Browser Add-on which is downloaded and installed on participants’ computers and an internet based service. All locally installed LEOtrace® Add-ons communicate via the internet with LEOtrace® servers (Service Nodes) to upload collected data and receive updates. The Add-on installs itself into Internet Explorer (6+), as well as into Firefox (2+), under Windows 2000+ (Google Chrome will be supported in the future). The only visible component is an entry in the help/about menu (although more components can be added to inform users about the data collection status). The LEOtrace® Browser Add-on is able to track the user behaviour, capture and manipulate the viewed contents, and display additional, interactive graphical controls in the browser interface. Due to the possibility of storing states beyond sessions locally as well as remotely, it is possible to implement complex study designs. Using HTML for all additional graphical controls (feedbackbar, survey popups, about dialog, etc.) gives maximal freedom of design. |
LEOtrace® Remote Testing Area
nurago’s LEOtrace® RTA (Remote Testing Area) allows Remote-Usability-Studies without software installation on neither user nor media owner side. This technology helps us to gather extensive qualitative and quantitative observation and survey data. The LEOtrace® RTA presents an arbitrary third party website under the domain remote-testing.de similar to a dynamic Web Clipping or HTP Proxy. The presentation is inside a frame set in order to blend additional graphical elements (i.e. feedback bar) throughout the whole user session. Simultaneously, additional JavaScript records mouse interactions on the displayed web page. The goal is to reconstruct all data generated between browser and web server and to collect interaction data with the web site without using any additional software at the third party site or in the browser. Based on the collected traffic data, it is possible to reproduce dynamic web site interactions including keyboard input and screenshots as seen by the participant (taking into account e.g. the actual screen resolution). |
LEOtrace® Desktop
LEOtrace® Desktop is a technology, which allows remote usability tests for (independent) software applications. Users can thus be integrated in the development and optimization of user interfaces. Prototypes or already existent desktop applications are presented in the user’s browser in a way, which allows the users to get a realistic idea of the look&feel of the application, or lets him/her run through various test scenarios. Every interaction is captured in a video format and is made available for subsequent analysis. Users are given the possibility to give open and scaled feedback in the context of usage, in order to give hints on noticeable aspects of usage. |
LEOtrace® Mobile
LEOtrace® Mobile is a software installed on the client, which allows insight into the usage of mobile devices. The technology is, so far, mostly used for remote usability studies of mobile applications. It registers various events, i.e. in- and outbound calls (anonymised), keyboard entries, network connection status etc. After a realatively simple installation process, LEOtrace® Mobile is running in the background, with all functions (usage tracking, sending of data, regular updates), unnoticed by the user. Data is at first saved in a logfile on the device, then periodically submitted to nurago’s servers. Our software currently supports the following operating systems: Windows Mobile, Symbian and RIM. OnSite Invitations
nurago recruits study participants directly on a client’s website with its OnSite Invitations technology. Customisable DHTML layers are presented to potential study participants, optionally taking complex decision rules and cookie-tracking data into account. Certain events can be defined to trigger an invitation layer, i.e. leaving an order process, exceeding a certain number of page and/or ad impressions, etc. |
